Breaking Down The d/Deaf Misconceptions

Hello!

The time has come for another d/Deaf related blog post and this one pertains to all the misconceptions and stereotypes. I’ll admit this is one post I should have done right at the beginning but other things got in the way and I completely forgot about it. It’s lucky I needed to remind what I wrote in my introductory post because this topic was left down in the comments. It also fits in to my current WIP (writing project in progress) which I have been doing a lot of work on so I now have no excuse to forget or avoid the topic.

Actually, I’m glad to be getting this down because it is probably one of the most important posts I will ever write on d/Deaf awareness.

Resolutions Update – January to April

Hello!

Welcome to the first of three resolution updates! It ought to be the first of four updates as I originally planned to split the year into quarters, but yet again, my schedule decided otherwise. Curse that and my blogging organisational skills!

So January to April it is.

3 Days 3 Quotes

Hello.

Welcome back to the third and final day of the 3 Day 3 Quotes tag.

You can click on the links if you want quotes 1 and 2.

Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you (Thanks again Zoë).
  • Post a quote for 3 consecutive days.
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

I’m writing this up on the day we found out about the death of Stephen Hawking and when the news broke, this quote of his really spoke to me.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. However difficult life may seem there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.”

I tag:

3 Days 3 Quotes

Hello!

Today is Day 2 of the 3 Days, 3 Quotes tag. Here’s the link to Day 1 if you want another glimpse at yesterday’s quote.

The Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you (Thanks again Zoë).
  • Post a quote for 3 consecutive days.
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day.

The question now is what could be the perfect quote to mark this day and also my 26th birthday?

Hmm…

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

3 Days, 3 Quotes

Hello!

It is tag time again, and this time I’ve been tagged by Zoë at Reading by the Moonlight to do the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag.

The Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day)
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

Day 1.

My mind has been driving me crazy recently with the constant spinning of thoughts and memories that it has started to influence what I ought to be doing and how I should go about it. When I stop for a second, I always think about this quote from Isla and the Happily Ever After because its relevance to my life never fails to amaze me.

“I’m beginning to think that maybe it’s okay to be a blank canvas. Maybe it’s okay that my future is unknown. And maybe it’s okay to be inspired by the people who do know their future.”

Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!

Soul Ripping Romance Tag

Hello!

How is everyone today?

I don’t know what I’ll be like when this post actually goes live, but as of right now, it is 4am and I can’t sleep. Quite a few things are driving me crazy but my general lack of sleep is right at the top of the list! I don’t know how that is affecting the quality of my blog posts but I’ll admit I tend to get more done at this stupid time of the morning.

One Lovely Blog Award

Hello!

It always comes as a bit of a shock to me whenever I am the bearer of any blog award nomination and I won’t deny that this particular nomination hit me the most. I don’t know if I’d describe my blog as lovely. Yes, I know I spend a lot of my time writing up post after post and tweaking aspects that I’m not satisfied with, but my friends and I would agree that I don’t have a life!

Subtitles at the Cinema.

Hello!

I’m here today with a question for you.

If you watch a film at the cinema and only discover on its commencement that it is subtitled, do you stay to watch it or complain and leave? And I’d best add that these will be English subtitles on an blockbuster film, for example, The Greatest Showman on Earth.

Language Learning 90s Style.

Today, Anastasia would say I am on a journey to the past, uncovering some of the reasons behind my love for languages and why they are a huge part of my identity. I never really know how old I actually was when I first babbled in foreign tongues and formed a sign but it doesn’t really matter. Languages were all around me and I simply got infected by the bug. French came before British Sign Language but that detail is insignificant.
