Favourite Disney Songs

I bought myself a new Disney compilation CD a week or so ago. Granted, it was a CD where most of the tracks were in French but listening to it and getting caught up in the music got me thinking about which songs I play the most (French and English) and I could describe as being my favourites.

Surprisingly enough I don’t think I’ve done this post before. I’ve done “most motivational”, “ones that cheer me up,” “park tracks,” “top songs for the Disney as a whole,” et cetera, but never a list of my personal favourites and that’s something I should change.

The problem is, I have a lot of favourites. We’d be here all day if I went through every single track so I’m just picking 5, all in English (I might do French tracks another time). Five that are not ranked in any way, shape, or form as that would be impossible for me to do! My only rule is that each song has to come from a separate film or film franchise.

Go The Distance from Hercules

Circle of Life

I See The Light from Tangled

Candle On The Water from Pete’s Dragon (1977)

Substitutiary Locomotion from Bedknobs and Broomsticks

All of these are such different songs that I’m hard-pressed to describe why I love them in their own way. If I had to pick out specific details, I think they stand out to me for their melodies, and the songwriting brilliance of all the composers and lyricists, particularly my personal favourites of Alan Menken and The Sherman Brothers!

And if I say so, Hercules, the original Pete’s Dragon, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks are all underrated Disney classics that deserve more love and attention!

What are some of your favourite Disney songs?
Are there some underrated tracks that you love?

As always, thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
xx

      1. Ah now you’ve said Treasure Planet, I know it. I’ve only seen it once but I really want to rectify that at some point.
