GR: How Many Top 100 YA Books Have I Read #9 and 10.

Hello!

I have a bumper Goodreads Top 100 YA books today to finally round off this series and honestly go out with a bang!

Looking at the books for this post, it felt right to combine them because I would end up saying the same damn comments over and over again. It’s tiring, repetitive and honestly, boring.

I’m foregoing the rating stats, the ramble, and I’ll put the all important read total right at the end.

Speaking of foregoing ramble, here are the books:

I’ve only read The Scorpio Races and The Cruel Prince, and I DNFed both of them!! For the Scorpio Races, I wasn’t really a fan of the writing style and in The Cruel Prince, I couldn’t get past Cardan being a bullying jerk. I’m told The Wicked King and Queen of Nothing are better but I’m not entirely sure if I’ll read them or not.

We all know I love Strange the Dreamer so of course I’ve read that! I just need to get my act together and finally read Muse of Nightmares.

The False Prince by Jennifer A Nielsen sounds like something I’d enjoy so maybe I’ll add it to the TBR. Maybe I’ll do the same with The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chyma too.

Children of Blood and Bone was actually a DNF for me. I did like what I’d read but I wasn’t loving it like everyone else did.

The others, I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever.

Possible TBR additions – 2 books
Read total – 4 out of 20 books

So the final read total across all the instalments is:

34 out of 100 books!

I didn’t have any expectations about how many of the Top 100 YA books I would have read but this is okay. It doesn’t really mean a whole lot in terms of my reading tastes, what I like reading, and what books I will probably read in the future though. All I know is that sometimes the most popular YA books aren’t for me anymore and that’s fine. I’d rather explore the outer regions of my favourite genres than start reading something and DNFing it because it isn’t relatable or good for me.

What are your thoughts?
How many Top 100 YA Books from the list have you read?

Thanks for joining me on this series and have a brazzle dazzle day!
xx

    1. Yeah the concept is what drew me to the book too. I think I just don’t get on with Maggie Stiefvater’s writing style.
