It is time for the second life lesson from the Walt Disney Animated Studios and this week’s film is Pinocchio.
As this film centres around a little wooden boy and an anthropomorphic cricket teaching him right and wrong, and also the strength of our own desires, there are a quite a few life lessons to be learnt.
One quote instantly came to mind:
Always let your conscience be your guide
and whilst that’s true, next to being one of my favourite quotes in the Disney canon, it is not quite what I was looking for. I wanted something that we don’t often hear from the film and think about whenever Pinocchio comes to mind.
After a little digging, I’ve found it, and it is in fact connected to our conscience whether we realise that or not:
Temptation is a double-sided coin because it is both good and bad. It keeps us on our toes. It makes us evaluate why we do the things we do. It tests our conscience.
Sometimes it is just something little like that bag of chocolate at the back of the cupboard we know we should save yet end up eating in less than half an hour, but other times it is something bigger that touches not just our lives, but those of other people too. That is the temptation we wrestle with because the consequences of our actions have a far-reaching impact.
It is definitely thought provoking.
What is a life lesson you have learnt from Pinocchio?
Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
