October Reading Wrap-Up

It is wrap-up time again and I’m glad to be able to write one because I read books! Yes this month was the complete opposite to September when there was only one book on my read pile. This time I have four, and whilst that doesn’t seem a lot for me, they are rather chunky. They’re also re-reads which was nice.

Actually, if you’ve read a couple of my previous posts, you might know what these books are:

11174642 13409513 2107620738391343

As it stands, the entire All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

A Discovery of Witches – ★★★★★

Shadow of Night – ★★★★★

The Book of Night – ★★★★★

Time’s Convert – ★★★★

You all know how much I love this series. Witches, vampires, history, demons, history, science…everything I devour on a regular basis is combined to create a magical world that is unique and addicting.

I never planned on re-reading these as I also re-read them right back at the beginning of the year, but I was watching and loving the tv adaptation and I wanted nothing more than to pick them up again. What was nice this time around is that with Time’s Convert to hand, I no longer had to imagine what future life would be like for Matthew and Diana, Sarah, Ysabeau and all these characters whom I love so much because it is all there for me. Pun intended, the history, magical, romantic, vampiric, and familial threads wove to create a book I won’t be forgetting in a heartbeat.

Maybe one day I will write a detailed review for the entire series but until then you will have to put up with my fangirling as it isn’t going to stop anytime soon!

Moving on from the All Souls Trilogy, I am also in the process of reading a book that might take me until the end of November to finish:

9781408872918Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas.

I feel I’m mainly reading this out of necessity than full on desire because if I left it for too long, I wouldn’t pick it up. Its size and anticipated density would influence me to read something else and I’d never know how this series ends. I am glad I’m reading it though because it is the finale I’ve been intrigued about for the last couple of years and I do like it. Similarly to all the post-Crown of Midnight books, it is a slow read for me, so time will tell how long it takes for me to actually read. I think that of the time I’m writing this I’m somewhere around the 220 page mark, but like I said, we’ll just have to see how it goes.

And that brings us to the end of my October reads.

Next to reading one of my favourite series, October was a pretty great book month overall. Beth and I got the chance to see Laini Taylor, I received some of my most anticipated books of the year (Muse of Nightmares, Witch of Willow Hall, Kingdom of Ash…), and I got back into blogging again. I also started listening to the You’re Never Going to Read This podcast done by Justine @IShouldReadThat and her sister Julia, which is fantastic and has already given me a great variety of books to check out! So if you are like me and very much want to grow your tbr even more, I highly recommend checking it out!

Anyway, that is about it.

What did you read in October?

As always, thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
