The Many Editions of Pride and Prejudice

It is a truth universally acknowledged that one can never have too many editions of their favourite book!

I definitely hit the nail on the head there, didn’t I?

Anyway, welcome back to me jabbering on about the one classic novel associated with my blog – Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

If you are new to the blog and are wondering what the heck I’m talking about, well I’ll let you into a little secret, Pride and Prejudice is my all-time favourite classic. It was the first adult classic I ever read at 13/14 and it obviously sparked a candle because I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. No wonder I make a habit of re-reading it every year!

As it is my favourite, I want to start collecting different editions because the three copies I have are clearly not enough (two black Penguin Classic editions, and one in French) However, there is a slight problem….I have no space to start such a collection.

I’ll have to contend with sharing all the gorgeous editions on here and staring at them indefinitely until I can finally move out of my parents’ house and have all the bookshelf space I need!

Shall we look at a few?

From left to right: Puffin Classics Edition, Penguin English Library Edition and Vintage Austen Edition.

Faber Classics, Quarry Publishers, and Alma Classics editions.

Classics Reimagined, Splinter Classic Lines, Barnes and Noble Leatherbound and the Headline Review editions

Aren’t they all so gorgeous!

I feel like once I get my hands on one of these editions, I won’t be able to stop. I’d probably need my other favourite Austen books (Persuasion and Northanger Abbey) in similar editions too so they match. Also, my current editions break and want to fall apart as soon as I open them so it is only a matter of time before they are boxed and I start purchasing these gorgeous beauties as replacements.

Do you have a favourite edition?
Are you someone who wants to collect many copies of your favourite book?

Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!

  1. I’d love to collect many copies of some favorite books, but I barely have shelf space for the different copies of books that I have. It’s hard to justify using so much on multiple copies of the same book! But there are a couple that I’ve just had to sneak in an extra beautiful addition!
