I’m here today with a tag, and I’m looking forward to this one because it has been sat in my drafts folder for ages. I was tagged by Asha – a fairly new member to our growing community – at A Cat, A Book, And A Cup Of Tea and the tag was originally created by Jen.
1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it.
I’ve never outright asked or received an ARC but I picked up my first ARCS at the Northern YA Lit Festival back in March – Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda and Sky of Painted Gold by Laura Wood. I’ve only read and reviewed Fragments of the Lost though as I’ve not got around to the other one yet.
2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley.
I think I’m one of the only few people who doesn’t actually use Netgalley.
3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
No. I don’t always write full reviews on Goodreads. Normally it’s just a few sentences for my benefit on my Reading Challenge page.
4. Folded down the page of a book aka dog ear a page.
I used to, but I don’t do it any more. The only time I will ever dog ear a page is in a magazine.
5. Accidentally spilled on a book.
Yes, and within the last month or so. A tub of moisturiser toppled off a pile of books on my bedside table and hit a mug full of tea. My copy of The Hazel Wood got a little splattered. Thankfully only the top edges of the pages got stained so I can still read it easily enough.
6. DNF a book this year.
I’ve DNFed 5 books so far, however I do want to revisit three of them. I just picked them up at the wrong time.
7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it.
Obviously I’m attracted to the pretty books but I’ll never buy them unless I’m interested in the story.
8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else.
Doesn’t every bookworm do this?
9. Skim read a book.
I often do this, especially if I’m re-reading a book and I come across passages I don’t like. I’ll simply skim over them until they’ve finished.
10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal.
No. I always make mine because I keep it at 50 or 60 every year and ever since I started using Goodreads to track my reading, I’ve tended to reach it around August time. Personally, I have much more fun in seeing how many books I go over by.
11. Borrowed a book and not returned it.
Yes. When I started reading adult books, I would often borrow books from my grandmother’s shelves. I loved one of them so much I didn’t give it back to her for ages.
12. Broke a book buying ban.
All The Time!!
13. Started a review, left it for ages, then forgot what the book was about.
No. If I forget details, they always tend to be names or the minor antics of side characters. I’ll only completely forget the story if it has been years since I read a book and only read it once.
14. Wrote in a book you were reading.
Yes. I often used to write and underline things in the books I studied at school. I just found it less time consuming to do it that way. However, I now want to re-read one of the books I studied and I’ll have to buy myself a clean copy because I don’t want to read my scrawling from nearly 10 years ago.
15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads.
Yes. I do sometimes do this, especially if I’m out and about and don’t have access to internet on my phone.
With 5 crosses, I don’t exactly know what that makes me.
Who to tag? I’ll choose the first three people at the top of my notifications and they are:
Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
