Go To Authors

Welcome back to Monthly Recommendations, that once a month post dedicated to all the books based on a particular topic. July is our ‘Go To Authors’ so those authors whose books we will automatically purchase and pre-order.

I certainly have a few and the majority of these authors are some of my favourites at the moment. Because of that, I won’t ramble on about why their books are automatic purchases, unless you want me to repeat myself every couple of authors.

With that out of the way, who are they?

Cassandra Clare:
– YA Urban Fantasy

Laini Taylor:

VE Schwab:

J.K Rowling:
Fantasy, and Crime

Sarah J Maas:
YA/NA Fantasy

Samantha Shannon:
Fantasy and Dystopia

Victoria Hislop:
 Historical Fiction

Kate Morton
Historical Fiction

Oscar de Muriel

Tess Gerritsen

Philip Pullman

Of course there are probably some authors I have missed off, but that’s it for now.

Who are your auto-buy authors?
Do you have some that are the same as mine?

Thanks for reading and have a good day!

  1. Hiya! Evelina visiting from the blog hop, if you still remember 🙂 Phillip Pullman is an author that my boyfriend has been telling me to read for ages, but I just keep putting it off! And for no good reason either, just… the general state of the TBR. Oh, you know how it goes 😀

    1. I do remember. Hi!

I highly recommend reading Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. It is really good. I first read it when I was 11 and it made me fall in love with the fantasy genre. I do need to finish re-reading that series though before his new book is released in October because it has been a long time since I’ve experienced that fictional world.

However I won’t be adding them to my current list of books I want to read this month because that pile on my bedside table grows bigger by the day. And I’ve also got to the stage where I have three books on the go.

      1. I know what you mean about the TBR 😀 and my Bf says the same about His Dark Materials. I should really really really… yeah.
Also, I always have like 5 books on the go 😀 that’s my normal way of reading! Kind of like changing the channel on TV, I guess?

      2. Possibly, I don’t know. Or maybe it’s like when we watch something on tv and click on a youtube video at the same time.

I am reading A Conjuring of Light during the day and a non-fiction history book before bed. I’ve been reading like this for a while now, but sometimes it does strike me as something I shouldn’t do.

      3. I don’t feel like this is something you shouldn’t do. Your brain is definitely spacious enough to keep all those stories in it 🙂 I also feel like this prevents reading slumps, because if a book gets kind of boring, then I can put it away for a while and read something more interesting for a change.
