Rest of the Disney Legends.

So about a month ago, D23 announced all the new Disney Legends to be inducted in this year’s ceremony.

The first few inductees are as follows:

Carrie Fisher
Mark Hamill
Manuel Gonzales
Clyde Geronimi

I started off wanting to do a post for each legend but like I ended up doing for the Disney Challenge, it has become time to bundle them into one post.

As that is the case, the next six inductees are:

Wayne Jackson – an Imagineer who was instrumental in the early development of Audio-Animatronics. He helped to create Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Afterwards he worked on the construction and installation of attractions at WDW, Tokyo Disney Resort, and Disneyland Paris.

Jack Kirby – One half of the duo behind Captain America, who then went onto create the foundations of Marvel Universe with Stan Lee. Before being honoured with a Disney legend award, he was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame in 1987.

Stan Lee – Nearly all of us know him as a comic book genius, creating the Marvel Universe. I’ve certainly noticed that since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel, the franchise has grown considerably and it is now a big part of Disney’s present and future.

Garry Marshall – Film director, producer, and writer known for quite a lot of work. His Disney films include the Touchstone production Pretty Woman, and The Princess Diaries. He also acted in Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain and Hocus Pocus.

Julie Taymor – a Tony, Emmy, Grammy winning, and Oscar nominated filmmaker. In terms of Disney she is famous for The Lion King stage show, helping to bring the magic of this production to life.

Oprah Winfrey – a renowned producer, actress, and talk-show host. For 25 years she was the host of her own show. For Disney she produced and starred in Beloved (a Touchstone Pictures film), ABC series and films The Women of Brewster Place, Tuesdays With Morrie, Before Women Had Wings, and Their Eyes Were Watching Under God. She also voiced Eudora in Princess and the Frog, and will be co-starring as Mrs Which in the upcoming 2018 film A Wrinkle in Time.

So what do you think about the full class of inductees?

Who else in Disney do you think is worthy of being a Disney Legend?

If you want the full list of all Disney Legends then you can go here.

I actually think that there is a good mix of legends this year, and I’m pleased that some of the earlier Disney animators and Imagineers are finally getting some well-deserved recognition.

Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
