Disney Legend time has come around again and now it is time to shine the spotlight on the second Star Wars actor to be inaugurated into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame – Mark Hamill. Mark Hamill by Gage Skidmore.jpg

Born on 25th September 1952, Mark Hamill is an American actor, producer and writer. Despite having recurring roles and guest appearances on tv programmes such as General Hospital, The Bill Cosby Show, The Partridge Family, his big break came with the release of Star Wars in 1977, as none other than Luke Skywalker. Hamill also appeared in the Star Wars Holiday special in 1978, and the sequels The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. For both of these films he was honoured with the Saturn Award for Best Actor, given to him by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

Hamill also reprised his role as Luke for the radio dramatisations of both Star Wars and the Empire Strikes Back.

It wasn’t until 2014 where he would make another return to the Star Wars universe, voicing the Sith Lord Darth Bane in the final episode of the animated series, The Clone Wars. For this performance he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award.

When Disney announced that they’d purchased LucasFilm and that there would be more films, Hamill again agreed to reprise his role.

He has done other work for television and film but it will be for Star Wars that he is best known. And without Star Wars, he wouldn’t be honoured with Carrie Fisher as a Disney Legend!

Is he deserving of the Disney Legends Award?

What do you think?

Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
