Today in Disney History

all know the Disney Princess Line-Up, a Disney media franchise focusing on the Princesses and their endearing qualities, but four years ago today, it would welcome PIXAR’s first ever princess – Merida.

Following in Rapunzel’s footsteps, Disney held their own coronation (this time in front of Cinderella’s Castle at WDW) to honour and crown Merida as the 11th official Disney Princess.

From that moment on, she would remain as the last princess to join the Disney Princess lineup – Anna and Elsa have spawned their own franchise, Elena, whilst being given her own Royal Induction Ceremony (also at the Magic Kingdom) is not an official princess, and there is no indication that Moana will be given the same opportunity and treatment.

So there we go.
