Rapid Fire Book Tag

There’s no better way than starting off a new blogging venture with a tag, and this one in particular I found over at Becca the lit witch. I think I’ve seen this tag floating around Tumblr and Youtube for a while so this now seems like the perfect time to jump in and participate!

Before I start to ramble, let’s get to it:

1. E-book or physical book?

I love e-books for the accessibility they give me but at the moment I’m reading more physical books.

2. Paperback or hardback?

Both but paperbacks are cheaper.

3. Online or in-store book buying?

I love going into shops and buying books, particularly if that shop is Waterstones. I do however tend to buy my pre-orders online because it can sometimes be difficult getting into my town to book shop.

4. Trilogies or series?

Trilogies. I like series too but a most of the time now they are really long and I don’t want to commit to rather long series.

5. Heroes or villains?

Heroes all the way!

6. A book you want everyone to read?

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

7. Recommend an underrated book.

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte.

8. The last book you finished?

Milk and honey by Rupi Kaur. I wasn’t a fan.

9. The last book you bought?

Well I bought quite a few when I was in town last week but one of them was The Muse by Jessie Burton.

10.  Weirdest thing you’ve used as a bookmark?

I’ll use anything as a bookmark. Sometimes I’ve used my ipod but I always tend to have a proper bookmark to hand.

11. Used books: yes or no?

Yes. I now buy quite a few books from my local charity shop. A lot of them still look brand new even if they’re second hand.

12. Top 3 genres?

Fantasy, crime/detective, historical fiction

13. Borrow or buy?

My library doesn’t have the biggest stock of books I’m into at the moment so I find it easier to buy them.

14. Characters or plot?

The plot is nothing without good characters to move it forward.

15. Long or short books?

Short books. I have a lot of long, chunky, brick like books on my shelves and I love having shorter books to break it up once in a while.

16. Long or short chapters?

Both. I’m not that fussed.

17. Name the first three books you think of.

  • A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
  • A Darker Shade of Magic by V E Schwab

18. Books that make you laugh, or books that make you cry?

Books that make me laugh! Or even better, books that make me laugh and cry.

19. Our world or fictional worlds?

Fictional worlds.

20. Audiobooks: yes or no?

Yes, although there aren’t many that I can listen to without getting annoyed by the narrators. I tend to listen to them to help me get off to sleep.

21. Do you ever judge a book by it’s cover?

Yeah. We all do it.

22. Book to film or book to tv adaptations?

Book to tv adaptations.

23. A film or tv adaptation that you preferred over the book?

I can’t think of one right now.

24. Series or standalones?

Both. I tend to read series but I need a standalone once in a while to keep the reading pace moving.

If anyone is reading this who hasn’t done it yet, consider yourself tagged.

Thanks for reading and have a good day!
